Refurbishment of the 400 kV Gădălin station
The 400 kV Gădălin station represents an important energy node for SEN, ensuring the interconnection between three important stations in the Transylvania area: Iernut, Cluj Est and Roşiori (interconnection station with UCTE).
The 400 kV Gădălin station completes the Northern ring by connecting with the Suceava station through the Gădălin-Suceava LEA.
The refurbishment of the 400 kV Gădălin station meant the construction of a new, outdoor-type station, equipped with modern, reliable and high-performance equipment, with a new control block and including all related fittings and installations.
The new 400kV substation is of the outdoor type, with air insulation and is made with a double system of busbars in the rigid version, supported on the head of the support insulators and the earthing separators.
The refurbishment of the 400 kV Gădălin station consisted of works of the following type:
- Primary circuits 400 kV;
- High voltage line reactance compensation unit;
- The integrated numerical system of management, protection, metering;
- Telecommunications system;
- Own service systems;
- Architecture, constructions and installations related to constructions;
- Landscaping, roads.
The renovation works of the 400 kV Gădălin station and the new connections to the existing LEA poles were carried out on the current site, under the conditions in which the project provided for a new, modern constructive arrangement. The area required to achieve the objective represented approximately 60% of the station's current area.
The works were carried out in the absence of voltage, without using the "step by step" method, by bypassing the station using the transfer bar. The area intended for the re-engineering of the station was not affected by keeping the temporary one in operation until the works are finished and the new station is put into operation.
